Russellville City Education System

Education is an important aspect of overall quality of life in the Russellville community. Today, our children need the best education available. The skills they learn early on form the foundation for continued learning in the future and ultimately, their future in this ever changing, fast paced high tech world. Russellville City educators strive to improve the future for our children by providing high quality education.
The Russellville City Education System ranks in the top third of the school systems in the State of Alabama. The education complex is composed of four schools located in an educational park totaling 115 acres. The Russellville School system is an integral part of, and perhaps the greatest source of pride in Russellville and the surrounding community.
Russellville students have fun

Tradition and dedication put the schools success in the forefront. The school system administers a variety of programs, including Head Start, kindergarten, elementary, secondary and vocational training. All students in Russellville are offered the opportunity to obtain this education in a safe and supportive environment.

The Russellville City School Complex also includes a fine arts facility, auditorium, football stadium with rubberized track, softball and baseball fields, four gymnasiums, playground facilities and a drivers education range. Average ACT composite scores in 2001 were 20.6 and equaled or exceeded state and national averages. Scholarship awards for the 2001 year exceeded $1.25 million.

Each school maintains a high standard of excellence in teaching, academics, athletics and other extracurricular activities such as music, drama and art.

When students choose to continue their education, they may decide to attend Northwest Shoals Community College, the only fully accredited community college in Northwest Alabama. Campuses are located in only a few miles from Rusellville, in Phil Campbell and Muscle Shoals. For students moving on to a four year degree, The University of North Alabama is only thirty minutes away. Numerous programs are available for obtaining bachelor, masters and doctorate degrees.
